CULTIVATE INTIMACY THROUGH PRESENCE, PLAY, CURIOSITY AND RELAXATION

Holding someone at the mercy of your hands is a privilege, the gift of exploring the mountains and valleys of a human body, a landscape where muscle depresses down, where it solidifies or ripples like ropes underneath your skin, where sensation refers to connective tissue, where bones and joints roll open and closed in relation to postural alignment, this sensation is unique, this ability to listen to the body so that words fall away into an altered state of awareness.

We've misplaced a lot of playful, explorative and thoughtful affection in the modern world.
To touch is to communicate with the language of the body.
It's an art of curiosity and an understanding of listening, comfort, discomfort, confidence, uncertainty, familiarity, intrigue, discovery, pleasure, pressure, tension, limitation, control and release.

When we explore our skin and let our muscles warm and unwind, our body can reveal narratives of behavioural and postural patterns, we can experience how they manifest in our anatomy, tendencies for weakness, dominance, weight bearing, internal rotation, hypermobility, sensitivity and how it reflects in our relating.

To engage in experiences that actively journey this language with your lover is inspiring, choosing to learn more about each other and ourselves creates foundations for bonding, as well as contributing to a culture of affectionate and relaxed connections.

WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DO WE NEED TO PARTICIPATE?

This workshop is designed for beginners, whilst a little mobility will help, the purpose of the Art of Touch is to offer simple techniques to experience more physical understanding of ourselves and each other so that we can listen, learn and adapt with our partners abilities.

I HAVE AN INJURY, CAN I STILL ATTEND?

A lot of our time during this workshop will be kneeling, sitting and manoeuvring our partners bodies, please feel welcome to attend if you are both comfortable that you can communicate, manage and modify movements together.
Injuries can lead muscles to atrophy over time, so we would love to support you to find ways to take care of each other, relieve pain and release tensions.
